About Chipchase Nursery:
A Victorian walled garden in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside is the setting for our unique nursery. Between the villages of Wark and Barrasford, in the North Tyne Valley, we grow and sell a vast range of hardy perennials and other plants.
We welcome visitors to enjoy our garden’s labelled borders; packed with over 500 different plants, of interest to both the plant enthusiast and the novice gardener alike. Specialities include hardy Geraniums (over 70), Geums, Trilliums Potentillas, Vincas and Arisaema.
All of our plants are nurtured in the Northumberland climate so they are fully hardy, and most of the plants to be seen growing in the garden are offered for sale.
Don’t miss our shop; which sells a range of gardening and gift items as well as self-serve drinks and snacks; and watch out for special events and activities, arranged throughout the gardening season.
The Nursery is closed to visiters at the moment due to the Coronavirus situation.
We are provisionally planning to open on Friday 17th April, however this is very much dependent on Governmant advice. I will update this message as the situation requires.
The Nursery is still open for Mail Order sales, please see the simple Plant List which is being worked on over the coming weeks.
The Mail Order service will post once a week (on a Tuesday or Wednesday) at present, as like a lot of people I am making food deliveries etc for various people.
The above picture is of Dactylorhiza foliosa - the Madeiran Orchid, a wonderful, easy to grow hardy plant. It requires a free draining, moisture retentive soil to be happy.
